boho glamour at Rivervale barn

I am so happy to be able to bring you Jayne’s wedding to her groom Liam. Jayne was a true Babe of Boo, from the first moment she walked into our boutique and had her appointment with Anna, right up until the day she collected her precious dress. Here, she shares with you some of her top tips, her suppliers and her flair for style.

“Liam and I met in our local pub one Saturday evening, a true love story aye! We spent a lot of time together from then but it was a friendship to begin with and one day we just clicked… this works!

After two years together Liam had arranged some birthday drinks for his birthday at the aviator hotel (they do incredible cocktails) and he had said his friends would be coming along. Two days before the ‘birthday event’ I found out I was pregnant and Liam was over the moon.. little did I know that 2 days later I would walk into a room of our closest friends and family where Liam would ask me to be his wife and of course I said YES!”

“We started looking for Venues quite quickly after this, Rivervale barn was only our second viewing but the first moment we stepped into the doors we just knew. We have a big family and space was really important to us. Rivervale is so spacious and open, the high beams of the barn are absolutely beautiful, they have a traditional ceremony room too which almost feels like you are in a beautiful church. To begin with I wanted to style the venue with flowers everywhere but I soon realized you do not need to over style this venue its so beautiful by itself, little is more! We went for a more boho style vibe.”

“We found some really amazing suppliers to go with this style and I have to say from start to finish they were all incredible! My mum couldn’t believe I didn’t have anything to do once I booked them, they take all that stress away and it looked absolutely stunning. My photographer, well what I can say.. my guests said he helped make the day everything it was! I actually found him through word of mouth which says all it needs to. To have a photographer who can capture moments rather then posed photos is actually hard to find, I am so grateful for him – He also made everyone laugh. My videographer – Also was a referral to me from a previous wedding of a friend, I will treasure this forever, he captured everything and more! With 3 wedding dates and a worldwide pandemic, I cannot thank each supplier enough. From start to finish despite struggling with having to put a pause on their own businesses they were supportive and gave us the perfect day.”

First look

“Three tips I would give another bride planning your day

  • Less is sometimes more!

  • Remember the day is for you, guests are there to share with you but don’t overly stress about seating plans etc etc.

  • Take a moment – best advice we had was to step back for a moment during the day/evening and just look out together at everyone who is there for ONLY you two. It was a magical moment both Liam and I will treasure forever – My photographer actually captured this too!”

Bride and groom

“My favorite part of planning our wedding would be the tasting evening at Rivervale barn, it was so special – they put on a whole wedding for just bride and grooms to experience what the day would be like. It was nice to step away from the crazy wedding planning to get a feel of the day and spend time with your groom not asking for color choices and seeing the blank look on their face when they say both colors are the same!! All jokes aside, it was amazing. You have a 3 course meal to try the food, you get to do some wine tasting, Meet suppliers etc.”

“The most memorable moment of the day would have to be our singing waiters! They really got the party going ready to begin the evening, it is for everyone too even our nan was up dancing!

Boo bridal - I had a really beautiful experience. The best part was bringing my mum and eldest daughter to choose a dress with me, I felt comfortable and in good hands. Emma got me into my dress with a few alterations due to my body shape, I felt beautiful and empowered at all times which is a really beautiful thing to make someone feel all of the time!”

Bride and groom first kiss

“Our day was perfect and we really was amazed people traveled to be there for us, from Devon to Lincoln they made sure they were there. There were a few complications leading up to the wedding, a worldwide pandemic for starters! But we tried not to let it get us down, my bridal party was amazing with that. Always sending me little pick me ups through the post, my Hen do was meant to be in Mykonos but due to restrictions we could not go – thankfully my Bridal party rearranged and gave me the best Hen do in London. Liam’s stag was meant to be in Dublin so he missed that too! Despite all this and 3 wedding dates we had the most perfect day and are so grateful to everyone.”

We hope you enjoyed reading all about Jayne and Liam’s journey and will join us in wishing them a lifetime of happiness. And if you were inspired by their special day, Jayne has kindly given you her list of suppliers to help your day run a smoothly as hers.
